Monthly day-ahead averages
Each monthly figure is weighted by period duration rather than averaged across quotations. The most expensive month is February 2026 at 17.22 c/kWh and the cheapest July 2026 at 1.93 c/kWh.

| July 2026 | 1.93 | 0.00 | 7.77 | 0.7 % | 28.3 % |
Complete calendar months only: a part-month average is not comparable with a full one. “Negative” and “below 1 c” are shares of TIME, not of the number of quotations. Prices are in cents per kWh and include VAT.
Hour of day
When is electricity cheapest?
Average price by clock hour across the whole series. The cheapest hour is 03:00 at 3.90 c/kWh and the most expensive 19:00 at 9.33 c/kWh, a factor of 2.4. Weekdays and weekends are separated because their demand behaves differently: weekdays have a morning and an evening peak, weekends neither.
| Weekday (Mon–Fri) | 7.34 | c/kWh |
|---|---|---|
| Weekend (Sat–Sun) | 4.30 | c/kWh |
| Weekend cheaper by | 41 | % |
Hours are Finnish local time. These are averages across the whole series, not a forecast: on any single day the cheapest hour can fall anywhere.
15-minute settlement
Price varies within the hour too
Day-ahead prices have been quoted in 15-minute periods since 1 October 2025, an EU-wide change. A single hour can therefore contain both a cheap and an expensive quarter, and the old rule of thumb — find the cheapest hour of the day — no longer tells the whole story. Below is the spread between the priciest and cheapest quarter within the same hour, computed across 1,128 hours that each have all four quarters present.
| Median | 0.59 | c/kWh | half of hours fall below this |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mean | 1.01 | c/kWh | individual spikes pull the mean up |
| 90th percentile | 2.51 | c/kWh | one hour in ten exceeds this |
| Largest observed | 10.35 | c/kWh | widest spread inside one hour |
| Spread above 1 c | 34 | % | share of hours |
Only hours with all four quarters present are counted, so a partially ingested hour cannot masquerade as a calm one. This section covers the series from 15 June 2026 onwards: the price API this dataset draws on served hourly values until then, so the data cannot see sub-hourly prices before that date even though the market has had them since 1 October 2025.
Extremes
Records in the series
The highest and lowest single quotation across the whole measurement period. These are individual periods, not daily or monthly averages.
| Most expensive quotation | 77.05 | c/kWh | 3 February 2026, 17:00 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cheapest quotation | -2.14 | c/kWh | 29 June 2025, 15:00 |
Timestamps mark the start of the period, in Finnish local time. A negative price means consumers were paid for electricity: generation exceeded demand.
Market snapshot
Prices of contracts on offer
A cross-section of what is currently offered to Finnish consumers. For fixed contracts the figure is the energy price; for spot contracts it is the retailer’s margin on top of the exchange price. Monthly fees are excluded, because they are not commensurable with c/kWh prices.
| Contract type | Products | Cheapest | Median | Most expensive |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Spot (exchange-linked)margin c/kWh | 55 | 0.24 | 0.50 | 1.99 |
| Fixed, 6 monthsc/kWh | 15 | 9.49 | 11.99 | 14.22 |
| Fixed, 12 monthsc/kWh | 45 | 9.35 | 10.77 | 13.39 |
| Fixed, 24 monthsc/kWh | 46 | 8.95 | 9.69 | 11.15 |
| Fixed, open-endedc/kWh | 96 | 6.49 | 9.66 | 21.91 |
Covers comparable products generally offered to consumers. Tiered-consumption products are excluded because their price depends on the volume consumed. The table shows groups holding at least five products: a median and a range over one or two products say nothing about a market. 4 further products are on offer with terms of 3, 15, 18, and 36 months. They are included in the JSON dataset, where every group appears with its product count.

Endpoints and downloads
Each series has its own stable URL. All of them allow browser requests (CORS) and carry a licence header, so they can be called directly from an application or a notebook. The files are language-neutral: their column names are already in English.
| URL | Contents | Rows |
|---|---|---|
| /tilastot/data.csv | Monthly averages, extremes and shares | 13 |
| /tilastot/paivittain.csv | Daily averages and daily extremes | 412 |
| /tilastot/tunnit.csv | Average price by hour of day, weekday and weekend | 24 |

CSV files use a dot as the decimal separator and a comma as the field separator. An empty cell means no observations — zero is a price, not missing data. Responses are cached for one hour. Free to use with attribution; if you need a longer series or a different cut, ask by email.
Method
Where the numbers come from
Source. Day-ahead prices for the Finnish price area from Nord Pool market data, captured into ParasSähkö.fi’s own database at publication time. The series is accumulating: it is not backfilled, so it begins when collection started.
VAT. All prices include Finnish VAT at 25.5 %. Electricity transmission and electricity tax are not included, because they are not set on the exchange and cannot be changed by switching retailer.
Time zone. Months, days and hours are computed in Finnish local time (Europe/Helsinki), so daylight saving is accounted for.
Weighting. Averages are weighted by period duration, because the series contains both hourly and quarter-hourly periods. An unweighted mean would give a quarter-hour four times the weight of an hour.
